More Information: The theme of this slam is "breaking the silence" in honor of National Coming Out Week. Tell us a secret, bring poems that are about telling difficult, dangerous truths, revealing secrets and breaking the silence.

More Information: At Howl, women are invited to read poems (their own or another woman writer's), share short prose, or sing at an open mic forum hosted by Mendy Knott. It's a great place to "try out" new work, share your masterpieces, or read for the very first time. Men and women are warmly invited to attend ths celebration of women's words.

Event: Arkansas Grand Slam 2009

More Information: Performance poets representing cities from across North America will compete in a two-day spoken word competition at The Poet’s Loft in Hot Springs, Arkansas. This slam has a 40-poet cap. It will consist of 2 preliminary bouts, held on Friday night, as well as a Last Chance slam and finals bout on Saturday night. Also included in the events will be various poetry workshops and a Haiku Slam. A detailed schedule and specific information about the cost of admission can be found here.
